NCAA TOURNAMENT POOL

NCAA TOURNAMENT POOL STANDINGS
Sweet Sixteen Day 1

Another HUGE loss last night as 11th seeded Xavier defeated 2-seed Arizona.  With the Musketeers win, tons of people lost a final four/finalist/champion in the Wildcats.  Our third place entry, Christian Searcy, is the highest ranked entry that lost Arizona last night, although a bunch more suffered with Christian.

Of our remaining champions, Kansas annihilated Big 10 regular season champion Purdue, but Gonzaga and Oregon survived close games, much to the chagrin to the handful of people that selected West Virginia and Michigan into the Elite 8 - and we did have those selections (including mine that had Michigan winning last night).  Updating our champions remaining: Arizona, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Gonzaga, Kansas, Kentucky, Miami, Notre Dame, North Carolina, Oregon, UCLA, Villanova, Wisconsin.  This list will remain the same throughout all of the updates, but I will remove the “bold” from teams as they lose.

Our leader remains the same, but Adam Jorgensen 2 took a big hit as he received ZERO points yesterday.  As you can see from below, he has Arizona in the finals, so this tournament is back to being wide-open (so long as your teams keep winning).  Steven Usma 3 rises dramatically to second place by selecting Xavier to defeat Arizona, and with that the extra 5 bonus points for the correct upset.  Mac Kroesen did as well, and Mac gets the "Pick of the Day" as he not only had Xavier, but correctly picked 3 of the 4 games from last night (nobody correctly selected all 4).

Tonight's games will be big separators for our group, as selected champions UCLA and Kentucky play each other, as do Florida and Wisconsin.  Whoever successfully picks the Florida-Wisconsin winner will gain points on the field, as most people have Villanova or Duke coming through that bracket.  Before those games start, however, Baylor-South Carolina should be incredibly exciting, and North Carolina-Butler could also be interesting.

The mean point total from yesterday was 8 (Kansas/Oregon or Kansas/Gonzaga), so if you scored more than that, you advanced; likewise if you scored less than that you fell in the standings.

As always, please review the standings and double check my math, as I may have missed something, missed an upset, or just simply miscalculated.  I try to be accurate, but sometimes I do mess up.  I will listen and change things as necessary.  If you point out a potential mistake, I will not take offense, but I will go re-score your entire bracket to make sure everything is accurate.

I will post more updates during the week to include the final picks of our entrants so you can start to gauge where you stand among the players that have selected your champion.

Please remember to pay, if you have not.  Payment instructions are on the rule sheet, or you can make other arrangements with me as necessary.

Good luck to everyone, and happy game watching.  Now, on to the standings.
