NCAA TOURNAMENT POOL STANDINGS
Sweet Sixteen Day 2
OMG!!! We had our first overtime game AND our first buzzer beater. Actually two of them. IN THE SAME GAME. We also had Kentucky's freshman point guard De'Aaron Fox outplaying and just plain old showing out over more heralded freshman point guard Lonzo Ball of UCLA. AND ... we also have a new leader. Steven Usma 1 has taken the lead, thanks to some good insight into the Elite 8 (which I will discuss later).
Of our remaining champions, Wisconsin and UCLA fell at the hands of Florida and Kentucky respectively, in matchups that guaranteed two champions to lose. Out of the Elite 8, entrants in the pool have six of the remaining teams as champions (sorry South Carolina and Xavier). Updating our champions remaining: Arizona, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Gonzaga, Kansas, Kentucky, Miami, Notre Dame, North Carolina, Oregon, UCLA, Villanova, Wisconsin. This list will remain the same throughout all of the updates, but I will remove the “bold” from teams as they lose.
As stated earler, Steven Usma 1 is our new leader, and he has his final game intact (and 3 of his Final Four remaining). These next two days are going to by HUGE for Steven. Adam Jorgensen 2 has slipped to second place and Christian Searcy is in third. We also have a fight for last place, which is likely going to be decided by tomorrow's North Carolina/Kentucky game. Remember, last place receives their money back as a booby prize.
The Kentucky - UCLA game was a big game for our pool as a majority of the pool had UCLA, but a significant minority had Kentucky. Big separation points for those that picked the Wildcats. That being said, 9 people had Florida in the Elite 8. Out of those, 5 had Florida along with North Carolina and Kentucky earning a big 12 points and rising significant places in the pool. Those five: The lovely Hannah Sosa, Chris Kroesen, Jacey Fowler 1, Alvaro Gonzalez and Kingfish Parham, earn the "Pick of the Day".

For the Anti-Pick of the Day, I have to give the award to Katie Kollmeyer who, despite a very respectable showing to-date, no longer has any of the Final Four remaining. She is the highest rated participant that can no longer earn any points.
Today's games are big for a number of reasons: the foremost being the winners will be the teams that I get to see in the Final Four. Secondly, although nobody selected Xavier, a good number of people have Gonzaga in the Final Four, so they will certainly be rooting for the Bulldogs over the Musketeers. People in the pool have both Kansas and Oregon winning that game, so the pool will significantly depend upon the outcome of that game.
The mean point total from yesterday was 4 (North Carolina). If you by chance scored 8 you moved up in the pool. If you scored 4 you fell slightly or treaded water. For those that earned zero points, you fell.
As always, please review the standings and double check my math, as I may have missed something, missed an upset, or just simply miscalculated. I try to be accurate, but sometimes I do mess up. I will listen and change things as necessary. If you point out a potential mistake, I will not take offense, but I will go re-score your entire bracket to make sure everything is accurate.
Please remember to pay, if you have not. Payment instructions are on the rule sheet, or you can make other arrangements with me as necessary. I might be calling you out later this week if you have not.
Good luck to everyone, and happy game watching. Now, on to the standings.
