So, a couple of things this morning as we chase toward the Sweet 16. First you have by now noticed that there is another pool running in this blog space. My colleague runs a conventional bracket pool that is also using this space for results. The verboseness of Pepster is hard to ignore, but he is a lawyer so what did we expect? Second, there are rules in this blog! How the hell is he going to use my government name in his posts?
Show some decorum bruh. Don't make me come over there.
Oh yeah, the tournament. I actually did not watch as closely as I should have yesterday so I don't have a lot today. I guess I was most amused in ALL of the stuff that happened in that BYU-Wisconsin game. If you were paying attention, you saw an amazing score bug error that had Wisconsin winning the game nearly 200 points late in the 1st half. The photo is jarring enough, but if you didn't see it live, you should watch the video of it. It was ridiculous! You saw BYU's Baker Dawson get a flagrant 2 ejection from the game for elbowing a dude in the junk. This happened with 3:11 remaining in the game and BYU up by 9 points. From there Wisconsin staged a furious comeback get within two in the final seconds and have a chance to tie or win the game.
Of course the game wouldn't have been complete without a conspiracy theory. In this case, we go to @pickempeteyy who claims that Wisconsin was going to appeal the result of the game because a BYU player threw an alley-oop dunk to himself after the final buzzer. You can watch his argument on Instagram for a technical foul that would have allowed Wisconsin a chance to tie the game and go to overtime.
Sports are the best! We know this because that outcome dropped that traditional dog of a conference (Big10) to 10-2 in this tournament.
I said the Big10 is doing well. Words I never thought I would have to type.
On to the block squares pool. There were 8 games played yesterday and we had two multiple winners. Both Matt Hopps and Johnny Aranza won 2 squares. Results are below:
One more day to go for the best weekend of the college basketball season. Let's hope that your commissioner gets into the winners column today.
